Weather London

See the weather for London

A city famous for its umbrellas, you may be surprised to learn that London weather is less wet than New York, Paris or Sydney, with generally light rain occurring throughout the year. Nonetheless, you should prepare for very mild weather as it rarely gets very hot or cold in the British capital. An exception to this rule is on certain days in July and August, when the temperature can exceed 25C. Winters here are chilly but rarely below freezing, while spring benefits from cool days and mild evenings. Autumns are unpredictable, with unsettled conditions the general norm.

When packing for your trip, bring a variety of layers to account for the variable London weather. You will probably need an umbrella or raincoat as well, plus a scarf and gloves if you come in winter. It tends not to get too sunny in London even in summer, so don’t worry if you forget your sunglasses!
